Bravo! Vail has announced its 27th Season, taking place from June 27th to August 2nd, 2014, under the leadership of President James W. Palermo and pianist and Artistic Director Anne-Marie McDermott. The season will include the Silver Oak & Twomey Series which will be sponsored by Three Tomatoes Catering and Silver Oak & Twomey Wine. NPR rated this classical music festival as one of the top ten classical festivals to experience.
Now in its third season, the highly popular Silver Oak & Twomey Series is designed to create an intimate and elegant listening experience surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors. Seating is cabaret style, with the performers in close proximity to the audience. This comfortable arrangement encourages audiences to enjoy great food from Three Tomatoes Catering and Silver Oak & Twomey wines, creating a sense of openness, receptivity and good spirit – the essence of great chamber music performance.
Musically, the Silver Oak & Twomey Series explores the resonances and interplay between the “new” in music and the “old,” that revered body of work that stretches back at least five centuries. This inventive series creates an ongoing dialogue with audiences to connect great music from all eras with present day experiences. Three Tomatoes Catering has prepared a menu for each night to compliment the region of the world in which each piece or composer originated.

The first Silver Oak & Twomey Series concert on July 29th features Le Train Bleu with its director, Ransom Wilson, and the Calder Quartet in a thoughtful program that pairs works by the great French master Maurice Ravel with those of contemporary American composer Christopher Rouse. This evening includes a sharable plate of an antipasto spread, grilled mozzarella domas, tota formaggio, and finishes with decadent truffles.
The next concert in the Silver Oak & Twomey Series, on July 30th, features solo works for piano and guitar. Artistic Director and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott shares the stage and the concert with guitarists James Moore. Because both performers are renown American performers, Three Tomatoes Catering will be providing a sharable plate of Colorado-local eats. This will begin with mini camembert encroute, smoked Colorado trout canapé, grilled Colorado elk saté, and a petite s’mores cake for a delicious bite of dessert.
The final concert of this intriguing and thought provoking series, on July 31st, features the largest group of musicians on any chamber music concert of the entire summer. Le Train Bleu is joined by pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, soprano Mary Mackenzie and members of the Calder Quartet in a program of German romantic works, and works inspired by German romanticism. The result is a riveting and hauntingly beautiful work, given a rare American performance at Bravo! Vail’s final Silver Oak & Twomey Series concert of 2014. Three Tomatoes Catering is honoring this special evening with German and Dutch inspired small bites. It will include a German Bier Garden skewer, beet carpaccio canapé, German potato pancake bite and a mini peach strudel.
